Shorinjin Ryu Saito Ninjitsu
Children's Classes - ages 8 -13
This is a complete course in the Japanese martial art Shorinjin Ryu Saito Ninjitsu. It is not merely a karate course but provides the very same training received from the Saito clan of old Japan. Mat work: Brake falls, rolling, flipping, ground techniques, suwari waza. Empty hand arts: (Tai Jutsu): punching, kicking, takedowns, locks, immobilization. Includes Jujutsu and Aikijutsu principles, and the specialized arts of Shinkeido and Fushido. Ritual Dances: The Saito family teaches several ritual dances and kata which are exclusive to Saito Ninjitsu. These rare and totally functional "dances" have many levels which begin as physical practice forms and at advanced levels become the keys to the psychic level of the true warrior spirit. Weapons training: The academy teaches classical weapons, such as nunchaku, sai, bo, tonfa and swordsmanship, but also many improvised weapon arts including the Tengu Kenjutsu (double spinning swords) taught nowhere else in the world. Certainly these arts are offered only to those who have demonstrated the physical and emotional maturity to respond to the discipline of training. The decision to teach weapons is a joint one among student, teacher and parents. Belt Ranking: Students progress from white belt through green, blue, brown and black belts (Shorinji Division). (There are no fees for testing or belt rankings.) At age 14 the student's program can be transferred to the Ninjitsu Division where he or she is qualified to enter the adult classes and receive the even more advanced training in the Wu Shan Fa (Five Mountain Path). |
